Matt and I met in 2006 while we were in college at the University of Arkansas. We were at Matt's fraternity formal in St. Louis. We were both at the formal with friends and ran into each other. We spent the weekend hanging out with each other instead of our dates! When we returned to school we went on our first date and have been together ever since.
On Valentine's Day 2008 I expected Matt to be giving me a ring. However, he gave me a box of fudge with nuts. I am not a big fan of fudge so I was not very happy to be receiving fudge instead of an engagement ring. Little to my knowledge, my ring was suppose to be ready for Valentine's Day but wasn't and he picked it up the next day during his lunch break. That evening we were going to go to see my friends for dinner. Instead Matt wanted to stay in and cook. I took it as a personal offense toward my friends and was not going to let him ruin my Valentine's Day and my weekend. After much debate we stayed in to cook. When we returned home from grocery shopping Matt was acting very strange. I expected that he was upset because I did not want to stay at home with him. I hugged him and told him I was sorry. Immediately I felt a strange object in his pocket. I stuck my hand in and pulled out my engagement ring! I was so shocked and embarrassed for being such a brat. He got down on his knee in the kitchen floor and of course I said yes! It was not the proposal I had been dreaming of since I was 12 but it will always be a funny story to tell!
