Moving Day

Closing day finally came! We were so excited to be signing on our first house. I was especially excited because it was my last day of school! We signed the many pages of paper work and were finally given the keys to our house. We walked into our house for the first time and saw a sweet welcome home package from our Realtor, who was so patient and helpful through the house hunting process.

This bucket had all sorts of cleaning supplies and the cutest fly swat! The picture frame says, "There's No Place Like Home" and it is a picture of our house.

My dad followed us down with a load of the essentials so that we could spend the night in our house on the first night. We unloaded everything and he headed home to get another load and bring it the next day.

Matt's parents came by and brought dinner and champagne to celebrate our new house.

Cheers to our first house.

Our first meal was on the floor in our living room because the kitchen table and any sort of living room furniture was not included in the 'essentials for the first night' list!

Our Realtor and her family came by to see if we needed anything!

The next morning Berkley explored his new backyard.

I think he is going to enjoy having such a large area to run and play in!
Matt and I then headed to breakfast and then to Lowe's in search of a refrigerator. I had been searching for one and found one that I really loved; however, it was a little over our budget for a refrigerator. It was stainless and had a lot of shelves that pulled out like drawers. Anyway, we decided to start from scratch and look for something a little less expensive. Well, we found a black refrigerator that had the same shelves and storage. Matt did some haggling, which is does very well, got $1,000 off and we took the refrigerator off the floor. I was so excited!
By the time we got home my family was there waiting with our stuff and our day of unloading and unpacking boxes began.

Entertainment was required...

The refrigerator was a headache...

hooking it up was even complicated...

so many cabinets...what to put in each??

Sweet cousin Vicki brought us a yummy bar-b-q lunch...

Some laughed...

Others stressed...

But at the end of the day...every thing was in a place (cabinet, closet, or box) and everyone was tired and ready for a rest! Thank you to all who helped us move into our dream home...this could not have happened without your help...!

Out With The Old...

I have several mixed feelings about leaving Fort Smith. I am so excited for Matt and his job promotion; however, I am sad to be leaving the place I call home. I am excited about the family and friends we have in Little Rock; however, I am sad to be leaving the family and friends we have in Fort Smith. I am excited about my new job in Little Rock; however, I am sad to leave my school in Fort Smith. As I say good-bye to our first house I am excited about owning our new house but I am sad to be leaving our first house that we lived in together.

Good-bye to Our First House....

...Welcome To A New Adventure...

Life's Changes

I am constantly amazed at how quickly life changes! A few months ago we were very excited to be under contract with a beautiful house with a red front door. The inspection came in and we were surprised to see that the house needed a lot of work. A long story short, we terminated our contract. I was devastated because I thought we were walking away from "our first house".

A few weeks later we found another house with a beautiful backyard. We decided to make an offer on the house. Our Realtor called the listing agent to discover that the sellers accepted another offer that morning. Again, we were devastated in losing another house.

By this point the April tax credit deadline was days from ending and Matt was days from moving. Matt decided to go to Little Rock one Thursday to search for our house. He called me that morning and said that he had found a house that he thought I would love. It was a house that was not finished and was not on the market yet. I told him to make an offer if he really liked it (I was thinking that this house would end up like all the others, already under contract). I called Matt after school and he told me that we had our first house!

I was not sure about the house at first because of the big hill in the front and backyard. However, when I saw the inside I was so relieved!

We are so blessed to have a wonderful new home. I cannot wait for all of the memories we will make in this house.
