We decided to make the trip home for July 4th weekend. We were so excited to celebrate the girls first holiday. We were also looking forward to grill out with my family on the 4th, watch fireworks on the river, go swimming, and see our friends Claire and Robert.

We are finally ready to go...4 baby bags, diaper bag, 1 box of diapers, baby bathtub, 2 Bobby's, camera bag, fan, 3 adult bags, dog bag, 2 babies, 2 parents, and 1 dog.

Hanging out with Nana on the kitchen table!

Sweet cousin kisses.

Getting ready for our first 4th of July.

They wouldn't cooperate without the pacis!

Eating watermelon with daddy. She wasn't too sure about it, she didn't know what to do with it.

Swimming in her little pool.

Happy first 4th of July sweet girls!

There's nothing like swinging on the 4th of July..."wee".

The McClure's came to the family cookout.

After dinner we took this sweet girl to the river to see fireworks for the first time. She loved watching them and I think we all loved watching her face more than the actual fireworks!! After about 5 minutes she fell asleep and slept through the rest of them.

We had a great first 4th of July with our girls and we cannot wait for many more to come.

I have known for the past few months that I have babies and that I am a mom but I don't think it ever really sunk in. I saw my girls each day and I saw all of the baby things that have consumed my house but I never really considered myself to be a mom. Moms are those people that know what to do in any situation, someone we go to for advice, someone that will listen at any time, and I am not that wise.

Today when I was doing laundry I had that moment when I realized that I really am a mom to 2 beautiful little girls. I saw this sweet little pink bear in my washing machine and it dawned on me that I am really a mom!

Today we also received a couple of Bumbo toys that I had ordered. I was really excited to try them out thinking the girls would love them but I don't think they even noticed the cool new toys. I guess I will enjoy them until the girls are ready to play with them!!!

The girls have gotten the hang of sitting in the Bumbos and they are liking them a little better.

McKinley looks a little scared but she really does enjoy the Bumbo!!

Tonight I caught McKinley starring at Matt. I love that they are both just looking at each other.

I wonder if she will be a Daddy's girl!?!

Today was another big first for the girls...I put them in their Bumbo seats for the first time.

I cannot believe that they are big enough to sit in them. They did pretty good holding their heads up but they were a little scrunched down in them.

Payton loved sitting in it and enjoyed just looking around. It was like she was seeing her surroundings for the first time from a different prospective!

McKinley did not care for it at all. I don't think she felt very comfortable or secure in it, but in time I think she will love it!
In a few short months they will be pros at sitting in these, eating cheerios and watching Elmo!

The girls got to go and see their friend Annabelle this afternoon. It is crazy how much they have changed since the last time the girls were together.

The first time we got the girls together my girls were 5 weeks and Annabelle was about 3 weeks.

Now my girls are 11 weeks and Annabelle is about 9 weeks.

We enjoyed watching the girls interact and look at each other. I know they will all have lots of fun together in the future!

Our weekend at home!
We had such a great time with my family. It was like a vacation for me because I had a lot of help during the day...and I didn't have to clean my house!!

The girls got to spend some time playing on quilts made by great great grandmothers.

They got to play with their cousin...

and I think all three of them had a blast!

They also got to spend a lot of time talking...

and smiling!

We got to visit with a lot of family and friends.

The girls were so worn out from our day that they even slept great for me. It was a wonderful weekend and I was very sad to leave and go back home.

It is finally that time...

a time that I have been waiting for for a very long time...

it took a lot of preparation...

...but we are finally taking our first road trip home!! Matt has a bachelor party in St. Louis so the girls and I are spending the weekend at home with my family. I have not been to "my home" since the first weekend in March.
I began packing for this weekend trip on Monday (we are leaving on Thursday)! Today I was still running around like crazy trying to get the last minute laundry done and bottles washed. While I was running around cleaning and packing the girls decided it would be a great day to be fussy. McKinley got to ride in the Moby wrap for the first time and loved it!!

She finally fell asleep after being carried around.

After several days of packing and 4 bags (just for the babies) we were finally ready to go.

I was very nervous about the car ride but it ended up being much better than we expected. We ended up stopping half way to eat and to let the girls eat.
Payton stared at me and her hanging toys the entire ride without fussing at all.

McKinley fussed on and off until she fell asleep, I think she is starting to hate being in her car seat.

Everyone back home is so excited that we are coming. Some of my family and friends will be meeting the girls for the first time and I cannot wait.
