Thirteen Days Old

Payton 4 pounds 7 ounces
McKinley 4 pounds 1.6 ounces

Today was an even bigger day than yesterday! This morning we had a news interview to help promote a fundraiser for the NICU called Craws for a Cause. The news cast asked us questions about my pregnancy, the girls birth and our stay in the NICU. They also took video of the girls in one of the NICU best, which the money will go toward purchasing for the hospital. The girls did great and did not make a sound until the interview ran into their feeding time at the end!
Since the girls did so well maintaining their temperature the nurses decided to do some of the required tests that the girls must pass before being discharged. This was another BIG step toward going home. If they pass the test then they are another step closer to going home.

After the interview the girls had their hearing test and PASSED!!

They also had their car seat test. For this test they had to sit in their car seat buckled in and maintain their pulse and heart rate for one hour.

This was very very stressful! The girls did not care for their car seats and each time they would cry the machine would beep saying that their pulse or heart rate was up.

So for the entire hour there was at least one machine going off. I sat on the floor between them trying to rock the seat and keep paci's in their mouth.

At the end of the hour the nurse said that the only reason the machine went off was because they were upset and she PASSED them anyway!!! We were so thankful, I'm not sure if I could go through that test again! And hopefully when the girls are a little bigger they will enjoy their car seats...we hope!

One of our good friends, Sheila, made the girls these sweet hats.

It was also a great day for McKinley, she made it back to her birth weight (plus and ounce)! We were so proud of her and excited that she made it back to 4 pounds!

With all of these great accomplishments we are very hopeful to be home by Easter Sunday!!
